Akismet takes care of our anti-spam service. It collects information about visitors who comment on the site, thereby passing it through the Akismet anti-spam service. When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymous string created from your email address (also called a hash) can be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.
